first_imgOn Hvar, on May 26, 2018, the ceremony of awarding the label “Croatian island product” was held at the Arsenal Gallery in Hvar, and which was presented with plaques of the label “Croatian island product” (HOP) for 2018.The label “Croatian island product” can be awarded only to traditional and innovative products produced by island producers, awarded annually, in the form of plaques and models, to producers who have their headquarters on the islands and who make nominated products on the islands.This year, the label “Croatian island products” was awarded to 57 manufacturers for 91 products and production lines.The project was launched in 2007 with the intention of encouraging the production of original and quality island products, and so far 297 producers have received the Label, of which 26 eco-producers, 28 producers with a geographical indication and eight producers with a designation of origin, for 971 products and product lines with 24 islands.Our identity, history and culture are represented by products from 24 islands (Brač, Hvar, Vis, Korčula, Pag, Krk, Lastovo, Dugi Otok, Rab, Cres, Lošinj, Prvić, Ugljan, Mljet, Šolta, Žirje, Pašman, Iž, Murter , Olib, Kornat, Rava, Silba, Zlarin) and the Peljesac peninsula. These are food (wines, brandies, liqueurs, olive oils, cheeses, desserts, fish, salad marinades, jams, honey), cosmetics and clothing products, as well as souvenirs and intangible heritage.It is interesting to note that 20 percent of tourism revenues have just been generated on the islands. Namely, on the islands where every thirtieth inhabitant of Croatia lives, almost 26 million overnight stays were realized, ie a quarter of all overnight stays in the Republic of Croatia.last_img
