Campos, Arvie Nab Women’s Indoor Athlete of the Week Honors

first_imgFRISCO, Texas – Texas A&M-Corpus Christi’s Valentina Campos and McNeese’s Alanna Arvie are the Southland Conference Women’s Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.Campos took gold in two events for the Islanders over the weekend at the FasTrak Collegiate Invitational in Houston, Texas. The junior kicked things off with a first-place finish in the mile, clocking in with a personal-best 5:02.91 to defeat the next closest runner by an eight-second margin. She concluded her weekend with another top finish, this time beating 10 runners with a 10.09.80 in the 3,000-meter event.Arvie took home first-place honors in the weight throw at the FasTrak Invitational for the Cowgirlsover the weekend. The McNeese senior tossed a 65-11.0 (20.09m) in the weight throw event in addition to a fourth-place performance in the shot put with a personal best 47-5.25 (14.46m).Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week – Valentina Campos, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi – Jr. – Comfort, TexasCampos was a double winner on the track at the 2020 FasTrak Collegiate Invitational in Houston over the weekend. She set a personal best in the mile, winning with a 5:02.91, a mark that currently leads the Southland. The senior also competed in the shot put, taking fourth place with a personal-best mark of 47-5.25 (14.46m).Honorable Mention: Jennifer Peake, Central Arkansas; Klaire Bentley, UIW; Danielle Lorenz, New Orleans.Southland weekly award winners are nominated and voted upon by each school’s sports information director.
