The group will meet at the Eveline State Recreation Area parking lot, will then take East End Road past the McNeil Canyon School, take the left onto Alpine Meadow Drive and to the trailhead. According to the release from Alaska State Parks, the hike is easy to moderate, and all ages are welcome. The park services does ask you to leave your dogs at home. Local volunteer groups in Homer will be hosting a 3-mile round trip hike, ski or snowshoe in the Eveline State Recreation Site, Homer, at 12 p.m., on January 1, 2018. Things you will need to bring skis/snowshoes/warm hiking boots (depending on conditions), and how you choose to participate in the hike.
