‘Snow joke’: Heavy snow showers forecast for Donegal

first_imgMet Eireann has issued a status yellow snow-ice warning for Donegal.Scattered heavy snow showers are expected today, tonight and tomorrow.The warning came into effect at 8am this morning and will be lifted tomorrow at 12 noon. The status yellow warning has also been issued for Galway, Clare and Limerick.Snow showers continue to move westwards across the country tonight. Heaviest and most frequent in eastern and southern coastal counties.Temperatures across the country are between 0°C and -4°C at the moment, therefore all of these showers are falling as snow. pic.twitter.com/FfLEwHwBOd— Met Éireann (@MetEireann) February 28, 2018Met Eireann’s regional forecast indicates that today will be “bitterly cold”, with scattered showers of snow and hail, along with the risk of isolated thunderstorms. Temperatures of just zero to 2 degrees.“Tonight there will be some further scattered snow showers in places,” forecasters say. “Extremely cold with lowest temperatures of – 3 to – 6 degrees with frost and icy patches.“There will be no let-up in the cold wintry conditions through Thursday; further snowfall and freezing temperatures in easterly winds.
