first_imgThe Fianna Fáil members of Donegal County Council have called on the Mayor of Donegal to convene a special Council meeting to discuss the implications of the various EU and national directives that have been issued by the government and came into effect on 21st September 2011.At the first of three planning workshops held in Lifford Fianna Fáil Councillors expressed huge concerns about impact these directives will have on the people in rural areas across Co Donegal.Fianna Fáil Whip in Donegal County Council Ciarán Brogan said:  “We are seeking clarification on how these directives can have been introduced at a have been brought while our current draft County Development Plan was on public consultation. “We will now be seeking permission from the Minister for the Environment Phil Hogan and his Department to re-issue the draft County Development Plan, accompanied by all relevant EU and national directives that have been issued since the plan was initially published.“We want to give the people of Donegal an opportunity to be fully informed on the impacts these directives and guidelines will have the future development of our county,” concluded Cllr.
