first_imgTottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochettino slammed his players for their poor mentality as they were beaten 2-1 by Newcastle at White Hart Lane.Spurs were a goal to the good at the break, but were caught cold just seven seconds into the second period with Sammy Ameobi cracking the ball beyond Hugo Lloris to equalise. And Pochettino was disgusted by the poor concentration levels shown by his players in the defeat.“It was very disappointing,” moaned the Argentine. “I’m very upset.”“I’m not happy because the first half was very good for us and we deserved more than only one goal – but this is football. We need to play for 95 minutes with full confidence and focus. It was crazy how we conceded the [Sammy Ameobi] goal. It’s difficult to accept.“We worked very hard during the first half and we put all our effort in the bin in one action.“I’m concerned because we need to show more strength as a team and in our minds. Today it is clear where we need to improve in our mentality.“It’s impossible to go onto the pitch and not be ready for the start of play.”last_img
