first_imgTOMORROW’s race meet at Caymanas Park has a competitive look about it, the Pick 9 embracing all nine races on the card. The first Super-6 gets under way in race number two, the late Super-6 from race four to nine. We look at the first Super-6 which commences with a 4-y-o and up restricted allowance race over the straight to be contested by nine starters, including the recent winner PERFECT ASSET, FLYING MAGIC, OCEAN SEEKER, GLYDER and MISS MYRTLE, all effective over the straight.Three-time champion jockey Dane Nelson is down to ride the speedy 4-y-o filly MISS MYRTLE, who though disappointing behind the front running LUNAR ROCKET over 1200 metres when highly fancied on December 24, ran better than her final placing indicated (12th).She actually chased LUNAR ROCKET into the straight before weakening and with Nelson riding so well since returning from an eight-month stint in Canada, MISS MYRTLE from the Patrick Fong stables is worth another chance, especially over the straight.Race number three, a maiden special weight for four-year-olds and up over 1400 metres, will be contested by eight starters and from all indications it should come down to a straight fight between the lightly raced four-year-old colt JON MARSHALL, to be ridden by in-form Jevanne Erwin for 16-time champion trainer Wayne DaCosta and the Gary Griffiths trained CONCLUSION, who failed by three-quarter length to catch KIMALI STAR over 1300 metres last Saturday. The promising 2.0kg claiming apprentice Hakeem Pottinger has retained the ride aboard CONCLUSION who, despite a tardy habit, could well go one better. Preference, however, is for JON MARSHALL, who finished eight lengths fourth to easy winner SEEKING THE DAWN over the straight on Monday and with less to do in present company, will now prove hard to beat. One of the more competitive races on the card is the fourth, a 4-y-o and up restricted allowance over 1200 metres in which 11 starters have been declared.Horses such as the DaCosta-trained LOTTERY TICKET (working well) under newly-crowned champion jockey Omar Walker, stable-companion GOLD MINER (Jermone Innis), the recent post to post course winner LUNAR ROCKET (Javaneil Patterson), the very fit BOLD SYMPHONY (Aaron Chatrie) and MISTER BONES, with Nelson aboard should make it close.LOTTERY TICKET ran on strongly over 1100 metres some weeks ago to beat subsequent winner LUNAR ROCKET in a fast 1:05.4 and is sure to fight it out. But if they go too fast, with much speed present, the Gordon Lewis-trained MISTER BONES will more than likely catch them in deep stretch, having finished two lengths fourth (closing fast) to SIMPLY THE BEST in the fast run War Zone Sprint recently. The fifth race for maiden three-year-olds over 1100 metres looks tailored for the Carl Anderson-trained TWILIGHT STORM, who caught the eye when finishing third last time out, while SERIOUS BUSINESS (Oneil Mullings up) could turn up at a good price in the sixth over 1300m for $180,000 claimers, and close the six with Walker’s mount FIERY PATH in the seventh over 1820 metres.FIRST SUPER-6 FANCIES(2) MISSMYRTLE/GLYDER(3) JON MARSHALL/CONCLUSION(4) MISTER BONES/LOTTERY TICKET(5) TWILIGHT STORM(6) SERIOUS BUSINESS/LIGHT BRIGADE(7) FIERY PATH/STERRI’S CHOICElast_img
